Kaolin

Kaolin is a soft, white, clay-like material that is composed mainly of the mineral kaolinite. It is an abundant, naturally occurring mineral that is mined and processed for a variety of industrial and commercial applications.

Kaolin has a number of unique properties that make it useful in a wide range of applications. Kaolin is highly refractory, meaning that it can withstand high temperatures without breaking down or degrading. Kaolin is also resistant to chemical attack and has a low coefficient of thermal expansion, which means that it does not shrink or expand significantly with changes in temperature.

In addition to these properties, kaolin is also an excellent absorbent, making it useful in a variety of applications where absorption is important. Kaolin is also non-abrasive and has a low electrical conductivity, making it a good insulator.

Applications of Kaolin:

Due to its unique properties, kaolin is used in a variety of industries,

  • Paper Manufacturing,
  • Ceramics
  • Rubber
  • Paint
  • Pharmaceuticals

It is also used as a filler in the production of plastics and as a nutrient in animal feed.
